Academic
I’ve always been fascinated by human behaviour and technology and have a special interest in Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality and robots.
Having originally undertaken a BA in Psychology at Reading University and with over ten years commercial research experience, in 2008 I decided to consolidate and expand my knowledge and understanding of our use of technology by completing a first of its kind in the country MSc in Cyberpsychology (NTU, 2009).
My personal areas of interest and study include:
- User behaviour in Social Network Sites
- Computer Mediated Communication (CMC)
- Identity and personality online and in Virtual Environments (VE)
- The psychology and philosophy of virtual reality, videogames, artificial intelligence (AI) and robots.
My independent research project explored how people construct their moral identity in and out of online virtual environments, more specifically, Second Life. I have also undertaken a online quantitative study in Facebook designed to understand people’s use of online social networks.
